What is Occupational Health
Occupational Health is a specialised clinical service and a distinct branch of medicine, concerned with how a workers health can affect his/her ability to carry out the job and how work and its environment can affect a persons health. We provide specialist clinical advice on work health matters to individuals and management, and we comply with national clinical governance standards of practice.
Our vision is to provide a proactive, high quality occupational health service which meets our clients needs in a timely, caring and professional manner.
We will do this by;
- providing services which adhere to national clinical and professional service standards,
Which are;
- delivered by a skilled team of specialists able of providing the range of services required,
- and displaying professional behaviours with our clients and towards each other based on compassion, consideration, dignity and respect .
In order to;
- support the Universities statuary obligations for staff & students safety and health.
Services for Staff, Postgraduates and Undergraduates are provided on the 4th Floor Crawford House, Booth Street East, Manchester, M13 9QS

The department opening hours are: Monday to Friday 9.00 AM to 16.00 PM
The department operates an appointment system for all clinic sessions held in the department.
Clients attending the department without an appointment will be seen when possible (i.e. where workload permits and at the discretion of the Occupational Health Adviser).
There are no arrangements for ‘out of hours’ services. We do not provide primary care service and we are is not a walk-in centre.
We strongly recommend that you sign up with a GP, if you have not already done so.
